Keep Calm Craft On: Christmas Crafting With Kids

Joining Nicole at Frontier Dreams for Keep Calm Craft On…

For this first week of Advent, I thought I would share some Christmas craft projects that my kids have been enjoying working on.

Last week, we made a batch of beeswax candles. The girls love to dip them. It has become a tradition in our home to make these every year in time to use and give for December celebrations.

Another tradition in our home is to make paper snowflakes to decorate our windows and seasonal mobile.

Lucie has been having fun sewing some Christmas trivets.

Pippa has been making some simple bookmarks to give using recycled watercolours and some finger knitting.

This year, Nicole inspired me to give Fiona Duthie's felted candles a try… The girls really enjoyed making these and Sacha enjoyed splashing around in the water and soap suds while we worked. I have also been making little gift boxes out of recycled watercolours (pattern can be found here).

Today, Loane had her homeschooling buddy over for a story and craft. We read not one but two gingerbread stories (the girls love them so much!) and then made gingerbread play dough (recipe here). Pippa and Sacha joined in the fun.

Happy crafting on!

  3. Those red and green trivets are really pretty. My daughter loves Jan Brett's The Gingerbread Baby - and I am a bit tired of reading it at the moment! But the detailed illustrations are amazing!
