Loving - Ce que nous aimons

Right now, we are loving...

En ce moment, nous aimons...

The return of bright, sunny days and 'snow dunes' left after the winter wind storms.

Walks in the snowy woods.

Des randonnées dans les bois enneigés.

Our snowy park.

Notre parc enneigé.

Our hens laying more and more as the days get brighter and longer, a sure sign of spring coming.

Tea and Lucie's baking.

Our sweet baby boy becoming more and more playful.

Keep Calm Craft On: Bag and Hearts

Joining Nicole for Keep Calm Craft On...

In need of a good big bag to fit both diapers and knitting and remembering this one (love it!), I decided to make one (the same!) for myself. The pattern can be found here. The fabric is from Ana Maria Horner, both inside and out. Such an easy sew and a great bag!

There was a lot of crafting going on around here last week (of the heart shaped kind)... Loane and I made some coloured beeswax hearts by warming some modelling beeswax and pressing the warm wax (so nice on the fingers!) into some heart shaped muffin moulds. Once hardened, we popped them out and tied them with some yarn to create a beautiful heart bunting to hang in the window. My pictures are a bit dark, but the light shining through the coloured beeswax is quite pretty.

some heart drawings by Loane

Inspired by this project, the girls did a similar resist painting using oil pastels, beeswax crayons and fun glob paints.

And of course our bread had to be heart shaped...

I hope your week was filled with love...

Happy crafting on!

Norse Myths - Mythologie nordique

Here is some of Lucie's grade 4 work on Norse Myths.

Painting of the meeting of fire and ice, the creation of the world - feu et glace se rencontrent pour créer le monde (aquarelle)

The Nine Norse Worlds - Les neuf mondes

Loki

Sif's Golden Hair - Les cheveux d'or de Sif

Freyia

Baldr

Niord

Heimdall

Freyr

I have been using the Christopherus Curriculum and D'Aulaire's Book of Norse Myths as well as the French translation of the Edda. We write a summary together or copy excerpts from the Edda.

We have also been reading this Nancy Farmer novel out loud.

Some other interesting books that we will be reading this year, including the Kalevala...
