Keep Calm, Craft On: Finished Boneyard Shawl

After feeling a little tired and stressed lately, I am so grateful to be joining wonderful Nicole this week with a Keep Calm, Craft On post. I have finally finished my Boneyard Shawl in Hand Maiden Ottawa. The binding off was the longest part of this project although I didn't make my shawl to big. I wanted something just over the shoulders. I am so happy with it and glad to share some pictures here. It looks a little crunched up but I have not yet blocked it.

Happy crafting!

Grade 3: Old Testament Stories - Histoires de l'Ancien Testament

Lucie has started her Grade 3 Old Testament Stories Block. For this Block, we have found the Christopherus  Curriculum to be very helpful. We have also been reading the following three books:

Here is Lulu's writing in her MLB and her paintings of the story of Creation.

Yarn Along: Boneyard Shawl

Today I'm joining in the Yarn Along, working on my Boneyard Shawl while flipping through a new quilting book I just recently treated myself to. The book is The Gentle Art of Quiltmaking. The photos are beautiful and the colours very rich. All of the projects in the book are inspired by colours. It's just what's needed to perk up a dreary winter day. I'm also loving working on my shawl in richly coloured Handmaiden Ottawa yarn.

Creative Friday: Trivets, Skirt and Handmade Holiday

Today I'm joining Natural Suburbia's Creative Friday.

This week I have, of course, been working on my Valentine Swap project. So much fun!

I have also been making some little patchwork trivets out of vintage fabric to brighten up the kitchen.

I made this skirt for Pip inspired by Oliver+S Lazy Days Skirt pattern. I intend to make some more for the girls, perhaps over the weekend.

And finally, here are some pictures of some of my Handmade Holiday knits. Patterns and other details can be found on my Ravelry page.

And last but not least, I want to share these pictures of Lulu wearing the new pinafore she received at Christmas. It was made by one of Santa's helpers, a very talented lady over at Heirloom Seasons shop.

Grade 3 Grammar - Grammaire

In my last post I forgot to include these Epiphany paintings the girls did last week, once again using the stories from Kristie Burns A Year of Waldorf Watercolor Stories.

A Year of Waldorf Watercolor Stories.

Here we have the three gifts: the gold coming from the north (top), the red glow of the burning Frankincense from the south (bottom) and from the centre emerges the third gift, the deep orange myrrh.

Lulu also started working on Grade 3 grammar last week. We have been using the very poetic introduction to French grammar found in Hélène Besnard's book Entre les mots.
