This weekend we went lavender picking!!! It was such a nice outing! The flowers were beautiful and the perfume was heavenly!
Once we got home, we had fun experimenting with some recipes using our fresh flowers.
lavender skin lotion and lavender body oil |
lavender-lemon tea cakes |
I also got some sewing done this weekend and finished a little jacket for Sacha just in time for our outing. The pattern is from Anna Maria Horner and so is the fabric (Field Study). The buttons are from Wooly Moss Roots.
Happy crafting on!
I didn't know lavender was edible. You took some lovely photos of your outing and creating. And the jacket is so cute.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yes, lavender is wonderful to drink (tea) and eat. I especially like it in baked goods.
DeleteGorgeous little jacket! Can you share a recipe for the tea cake?
ReplyDeleteThank you. I used this recipe: http://www.cookbookarchaeology.com/?p=1313, but changed it a bit. I used egg replacer, earth balance, rice milk and 3/4 cups sugar instead of 1 cup. I also cut the amount of icing in half.
DeleteIt was wonderful!!! Enjoy!
Thank you! :-)
DeleteYour little jacket is so cute, and looks like it has some intricate sewing. Love the fabric. So many things with the lavender. I am going to look for a recipe, as I have a tiny bush in my garden.
ReplyDeleteThanks! The pattern for this jacket was actually quite easy to follow. Lavender is such a great plant to grow. It's beautiful and it can be used in so many ways!
DeleteI enjoyed this post. The little jacket is adorable.
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen!
