Keep Calm Craft On: Some Christmas Crafting

We've been busy, busy, doing lots of Christmas crafting around here lately. Here are some of the projects we've been working on…

weaving wreaths with some branches we cut in the woods (these ones made by Loane and my Mum who was visiting us last week)

I wove a little basket to hold some goodies...

I used one of the wreaths to hang some gingerbread that the girls made 

the girls have been cutting paper snowflakes and I hung some around our winter fairy

and decorated our windows with them

the girls and I have been making some rose windows (thanks to this book) as gifts to send to the grandparents 

the girls sewed this heart and gingerbread garland out of pieces of wool felt and fabric scraps

I've been knitting some little Tomten (using this pattern) and Santa hats (using another sweet pattern by Linda)

I've also been experimenting dyeing some of our wool 

I'm happy with the results, the colours are very soft (I will be using some for my Christmas gifts)

and last but not least, some little leg warmers just off the needles for Sacha using some very fun self-striping yarn from Biscotte&Cie (their colours are great, especially for children).

Santa Lucia - Sainte-Lucie

we woke to the sound of singing, the voices of three angels

we didn't make traditional Lucia cats this year, but we made cinnamon rolls instead for our special candlelight breakfast

nous n'avons pas fait de petits pains traditionnels cette année, mais des brioches à la cannelle tout de même, pour un petit déjeuner spécial, à la lumière des chandelles

Keep Calm Craft On: Pixie Hats, Sweaters and Trousers

A pixie hat for me!!! I knit this up for fun, not knowing how it would really look... It turns out I am really in love with it! The yarn is squishy, soft and warm hand spun and hand dyed 50/50 mix of silk and wool from the Charlottetown Farmers' Market (P.E.I.) gifted to me by my dear friend Deb (making this hat extra special!). I combined it with a strand of Classic Elite Giselle. See my Ravelry page for details.  

I recently finished a new pixie/elf hat for Pippa. This pattern is, in my opinion, THE BEST HAT FOR CHILDREN EVER INVENTED! The yarn is from Three Irish Girls. 

I have also been having fun working on more felted sweaters.

And I recently finished a few new Quick Change Trousers for busy little Mr. Sacha.
