Measurements - Mesures

Lulu is experimenting and practicing different measurements for one of her math blocks.

Lulu expérimente et pratique différentes mesures pour un de ses blocs de maths.

The best place to do this is in the kitchen...

Le meilleur endroit pour le faire, c'est dans la cuisine...

Here she has prepared (all on her own) a typical Waldorf snack of bread and honey using our favourite Waldorf Kindergarten Snack Book.

Ici, elle nous a préparé (toute seule) un goûter typiquement Waldorf: des petits pains avec du miel. La recette vient de l'un de nos livres préférés, le Waldorf Kindergarten Snack Book.

Lulu also enjoys preparing recipes out of the following French recipe books which I strongly recommend:

Lulu aime aussi préparer des recettes dans les livres suivants que je recommande fortement pour les enfants ou pour cuisiner en famille:

Cuisiner Bio en famille de Valérie Cupillard. Des recettes végétariennes simples et appétissantes à cuisiner et à partager en famille et une présentation un peu ludique pour plaire aux enfants.
P'tit Chef bio
Les recettes de P'tit Chef bio sont pleines de fantaisie.
La présentation est aussi très ludique.

Good to be back

It's good to be back in our island home after a two week trip to the continent.

Playing on the beach...

Pockets full of seashells, hands (and bike) full of seaweed...

Enjoying April showers and the misty, foggy, salty sea air...

Waking up to the sound of our rooster (and listening to him sing all day long)...

Our kale, coming back to life in the greenhouse...

So thankful to be knitting again only one week after undergoing endoscopic carpal tunnel surgery...

I am joining Ginny today, for the Yarn Along. I have been busy (before and since my surgery) knitting some wool diaper covers using this pattern. A fast and easy knit in Cascade 220.

I am currently reading a fascinating biography Sisters in the Wilderness. It is the story of the two sisters and writers Susanna Moodie and Catharine Parr Traill, their voyage from England to Canada and how these two very well educated, literary, middle-class, late-Victorian English gentlewomen managed with pioneer life in the backwoods.

I am also really loving and getting lots of new garden and kitchen inspiration from Homegrown Whole Grains. This book is as interesting as it's cover is beautiful (Nikki McClure illustration). It has inspired me to try growing some corn this year. Perhaps we will be more adventurous next year and try a small patch of oats or wheat...

Keep Calm Craft On: Loulou Quilt

Joining Nicole at Frontier Dreams for another Keep Calm Craft On post.

This weekend I finally got around to finishing my Loulou quilt (the fabric had been sitting on my work table, all cut out and waiting for months now!). The fabric is cotton flannel from Anna Maria Horner's Loulouthi collection. I love the rich colours, the beautiful patterns, the warmth, softness and quality of this flannel (even after many, many washes).

Happy crafting on!
