Candlemas and Imbolc - Chandeleur et Imbolc

Today, we celebrated Candlemas and Imbolc.

Aujourd'hui, nous avons fêté la Chandeleur et Imbolc.

Our Imbolc story table with beeswax animals, gnomes and little Sun King (wood peg people and felt), as well as wool fairies that dance in the light, all made by Loane. A beautiful story that we worked on all week (found here).

Nous avons travaillé toute la semaine sur notre histoire d'Imbolc (une très belle histoire de l'École de la Terre). Loane a fabriqué de petits animaux en cire d'abeille, des gnomes et le petit Soleil Roi (figurines en bois et feutrine), ainsi que des fées et des ondines en laine qui dansent dans la lumière.  

We also read this wonderful story.

Nous avons aussi lu cette merveilleuse histoire.

And of course, we ate crêpes

Et bien sûr, nous avons mangé des crêpes

and lit many candles...

et allumé beaucoup de chandelles...

Odile of Alsace - Sainte-Odile

Here is Pippa's work on Odile of Alsace for her Grade 2 Heroes and Saints block.

We loved reading the story of Odile written by Jakob Streit.

Nous avons adoré lire l'histoire d'Odile écrite par Jakob Streit.

Then Pippa wrote and drew in her MLB.

Ensuite, Pippa a écrit et dessiné dans son cahier de leçons.

Pippa also did a painting of Odile.

Pippa a aussi fait une aquarelle d'Odile.

Back! - De retour!

Glad to be back after a long holiday break! After the Christmas holidays we spent two weeks on the continent visiting friends and family in Montreal and Ottawa.

Heureuse d'être de retour après un long congé. Suite aux vacances de Noël, nous avons fait un voyage de deux semaines sur le continent pour visiter famille et amis à Montréal et Ottawa.

We are now settling back into our family rhythm at home. The temperatures have been very cold this past week in the Islands.

Cette semaine, nous avons retrouvé notre rythme à la maison. La température aux Iles est très froide depuis quelques jours.

We also read Isabelle's beautiful story, by the fire, while buckets of water thawed for our animals.

Assises près du feu et alors que des seaux d'eau dégelaient pour nos animaux, nous avons aussi lu la très belle histoire d'Isabelle.
